Convert between cups, grams, tablespoons, and more
Questions?
What's the difference between volume and weight measurements?
Volume (cups, tbsp) measures space, while weight (grams, oz) measures mass. Flour measured by volume varies by density, so weight is more precise for baking.
Is 1 cup always 240 ml?
In the US, 1 cup = 236.6 ml (we round to 240 ml). The metric cup in some countries equals 250 ml. Always check your recipe source.
How do I convert cups to grams?
This depends on the ingredient. 1 cup of flour ≠ 1 cup of sugar by weight. Use our converter or check ingredient-specific conversion charts.
What's the difference between fluid ounces and ounces?
Fluid ounces (fl oz) measure volume (liquids), while ounces (oz) measure weight (solids). Don't confuse them in recipes!
Why does my conversion seem off?
Some conversions are approximate because volume units don't convert perfectly to weight without knowing ingredient density. For baking, use weight when possible.
