Recipe Scaler
Adjust ingredient amounts for any serving size
Questions?
How does recipe scaling work?
Recipe scaling multiplies all ingredient amounts by the ratio of desired servings to original servings. For example, if you want double the servings, each ingredient amount doubles.
Should I scale spices and seasonings?
Usually not proportionally. When doubling a recipe, use 1.5x the spices instead of 2x, as their flavor concentrates. Start with less and adjust to taste.
How do I convert between units?
Use our Cooking Unit Converter tool for quick conversions. Common: 1 cup = 16 tbsp, 1 tbsp = 3 tsp, 1 cup = 240 ml.
Can I scale baking recipes?
Yes, but be careful. Baking is precise. Scaling by less than 0.75x or more than 2x may require adjusting liquid or leavening agents.
What about cooking times?
Cooking times don't scale linearly with servings. Check recipe instructions, but often the time remains similar with minor adjustments.
